about nth polyhedrals

I’m a Seattle-based dicemaker (she/her pronouns) who really likes plants, food, and hanging out with my dog. I’ve always been at the intersection of art and science, exercising my creative side in my free time while in the field of HIV vaccines in my work life — so dice and I are a good match, with their perfect little polyhedral forms as my canvas.

FAQ

Q: How did you begin making dice?

A: Slowly and sporadically! I began playing D&D in early 2019 and pretty much immediately started amassing a dice collection. I’m the type of person who’s constantly creating but always bouncing between mediums, so it didn’t take long for me to gravitate towards dicemaking, but it took quite a while for me to actually gather all the materials and knowledge needed to do it.

Q: Are your dice balanced?

A: I’ve never done the saltwater test, so I can’t tell you if my dice roll perfectly randomly. I tend not to use heavier inclusions that would significantly sway the way the dice rolls. However, handmade dice are frequently purchased for their connection to the user or to the user’s character, and typically not for their precision rolling.

Q: Do your dice have flaws?

A: Most of my dice, because the entire process from start to finish is done by hand, are not completely perfect and will have tool marks and seam lines. However, most of these marks are not visible unless you’re REALLY looking for them, and I disclose any repair marks that are obvious. No flaws should affect gameplay.

Q: Do you take commissions?

A: Not at the moment, sorry!
